Gymnastics is a fantastic sport for kids to get involved in. It incorporates strength, flexibility, balance, endurance and coordination – all of which help to create lifelong skills and habits that carry on into adulthood. Who knows, maybe your kid is a gold medal gymnast in the making! From toddlers taking baby gym classes through to teens wanting to up their tumbling skills, Hong Kong has plenty of places your kids can learn gymnastics.
My Gym Children’s Fitness Center — Baby gym for young kids
More than one Sassy Mama has enjoyed taking their kids along to My Gym, an established English-based gymnastics playgroup for kids ranging from 6 months to 6 years old. Movement, body awareness, coordination and dexterity are all important aspects of development for children and My Gym helps kids develop and improve on these skills (while having a lot of fun in the process). Baby gym classes for tots under 2.5 years include social circle time, infant songs, dance, gross motor exercises and stations. Older gymnasts begin to nurture independence and introduce fundamental gymnastic skills and refine and build strength, flexibility and agility.

The Little Gym — Recreational gymnastics and baby gym classes

With a 7,000 sq ft facility, professional coaching and equipment, Kidnetic is a popular choice for kid’s gymnastics in Hong Kong. It focuses on fun and development, with both recreational and competitive streams for kids of all ages. Kidnetic also offers classes for children with special learning needs and private coaching, helping kids to reach their full potential.

ESF Gymnastics — Competitive and recreational gymnastics classes
ESF offers training for gymnasts of various age groups, who will be taught by coaches from all over the globe (with a variety of backgrounds). Gymnastics classes are broken down by age and then further by ability with opportunities for competition. The aim is to improve flexibility, motor skills, balance, coordination and more, all while having fun. With small class sizes across all ESF school locations, you do not need to be an ESF student to attend its gymnastics classes.

YWCA — Recreational trampoline, artistic and rhythmic gymnastics classes
The YWCA is a professional and multicultural establishment that offers native English instructed classes and camps in gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics and even trampoline for toddlers to twelve-year-olds. It offers free and paid trial classes as well (which are perfect if you’re not sure how your little one will take to this sport). YMCA’s courses are progressive and help to build up the necessary skills for success recreationally or competitively in gymnastics.

Proactiv Sports — Qualified gymnastics coaches teaching all over Hong Kong
Formerly Sports4Kids, Proactiv Sports has had a presence in Hong Kong since 2011, encouraging kids of all ages to embrace a more physical and active lifestyle. Its qualified coaches teach kids from beginner to advanced level gymnastics, while also offering rhythmic and acrobatic-based gymnastics classes. Classes are taught at a variety of international schools, studios, and clubhouses with varying dates and timeslots for fixed-term enrolment. Free trials are also available for the undecided kid (or parent).

Flipping Kids — Baby gym, recreational and competitive gymnastics, plus parkour
If your kid loves to set up obstacle courses or play Floor Is Lava, Flipping Kids could be the gymnastics programme for them. Established in 2013 by a former gymnast and dancer, it offers artistic gymnastics and parkour classes. The specially designed parkour obstacle course includes monkey bars, climbing walls, ramps, foam pit, sliding poles and much more to challenge your child both physically and mentally. Gymnastic competition levels are by invitation only, however all ages and abilities can enjoy the baby gym and recreational classes. It also offers pay-as-you-go sessions and birthday parties.

iGym — Discovery Bay gymnastics classes
iGym is a unique company offering a dedicated, qualified male coach for boys-only gymnastics classes. There are also girls-only and mixed classes with development programs progressing through to competition level. Classes start at 3 years and are offered at Epicland and DBIS in Discovery Bay. It also runs gymnastics camps, priced on a per-day basis, that includes acrobatics, cheerleading and a ninja zone.

YMCA — Baby gym, recreational and competitive gymnastics classes
YMCA offers general and artistic gymnastic programs for children as young as 13 months (adult accompanied of course) progressing through to competition level. Trampoline programs are also available with classes designed around the kids ability levels and interest. Sessions are conducted in Cantonese with English supplemented so these classes are an opportunity to level up your child’s Cantonese skills!
