Learning to ride a bike could be considered a rite of passage! Whether you’re getting your toddler started on a balance bike or scooter, searching for their first “big kid bike” or ready to hit the trails on a BMX bike, these are the Hong Kong bicycle shops to help you get on your bike.
Head to these Hong Kong bicycle shops and give your little ones a licence for some freewheeling fun! Scooting and cycling is an essential stage of childhood and helps in the development of a child’s gross motor skills, balance and coordination so important to get your kids off to the right start. Many parents would rather skip training wheels and start their little ones off on scooters and balance bikes that help their coordination and balance, before graduating them to “big kid bikes”.
For any of these products, getting the size, weight, balance and fit right are all crucial and will change as your kiddo grows so it is important to invest in a product that will suit their current skill level and their physical ability. Avoid buying a bike they will ‘grow into’. Those small muscles can’t handle a heavy bike, with your kid likely to end up disheartened if they are unable to keep the bike upright themselves. One of the unique and charming things about bike shops in Hong Kong is that most of them are run by cycling and sports enthusiasts. Head in-store and they are more than willing to answer any sort of queries, encourage your nervous little one to hop on and are always willing to check tyres for air, replace a small part, suggest alterations, etc. (often at no cost).
