As Sassy parents, we’re always on the lookout for a good indoor playroom – especially during the rainy season when outdoor playgrounds are off limits! Sometimes, we need to pack the kids off on a playdate with friends while we work from home, perhaps you need a play area that doubles up as a party venue, or an indoor play centres that also offer after-school classes. And ever so often, we want to discover a new indoor playroom as a family when we are looking for things to do with the kids on weekends.

Baumhaus – Music learning centre with a unique “tree” playhouse

This centre offers creative arts, music and drama programmes, beautiful playhouses and a cafe (some Sassy parents claim their coffee is amongst the best in the city!). Its impressive play areas feature specially crafted and custom-made indoor treehouses from Germany. Toy Library – Free playroom in the Hong Kong Central Library

The Toy Library is the first public toy library in Hong Kong. It’s aimed at kids below 8 years old and has four play corners that are specially designed to cater to the development needs and play behaviour of children of different ages. You need to call in advance and book a 45-minute slot for you and your little one. Look out for parent-child workshops and different themes each quarter.

E3 Club – Indoor playground and toy store

This “E Cubed” Club is based on three Es: entertainment, education and exchange. You’ll find the usual soft play suspects here: slides, trampolines and ball pits. Regulated with strict rules regarding hygiene and safety, this indoor playground boasts a wide range of toys, plus a toy store and various arts and crafts workshops for kids.

If your child loves swinging and bouncing around (who doesn’t?!), head to Kidnetic! Spanning 7,000 square feet, it is the largest private kids’ gym in Hong Kong. Maggie & Rose – Family club with spacious indoor play areas

The first UK private members club for kids and their parents in Hong Kong, Maggie & Rose is a beautiful space designed for both adults and kids. Verm City – Indoor playground with climbing wall and gym

If your children are a little older and looking for something more challenging, Hong Kong’s “first full facility rock climbing gym” has everything from bouldering to lead climbing and top rope. Its Clip N’ Climb system is suitable for ages 4 and above and is designed to be a rock climbing amusement park for beginners and experts alike. Little Beetles – Toy store with a well-designed kids’ playroom

Well-loved toy store, Little Beetles, has moved from Happy Valley to Hung Hom. It certainly stands by its “learning is fun” attitude, with 90% of its playroom material made by HABA, the quality German toy brand. Its play area has a range of fun and educational activities and games for kids up to 3 years old. This cute little space will not disappoint – make sure to call and book in advance and remember to wear socks!
